One link for Huawei AppGallery, Google Play and App Store
Huawei phones sold since 2019 have no Google Play. A Google Play link sent to one of them leads nowhere. SetLinks recognises Huawei and Honor devices and sends them to your app in AppGallery, from the same link and QR code everyone else uses.
How Huawei phones are recognised
By the user agent: the Huawei browser, Huawei Mobile Services and the Huawei and Honor device names. That check runs before the general Android rule, because those phones also say “Android” and would otherwise be sent to Google Play — which most of them do not have.
- Huawei and Honor → AppGallery; if the link has no AppGallery address, → RuStore; then the fallback. Never Google Play.
- Other Android → Google Play; without one, → RuStore.
- iPhone and iPad → App Store.
- Computer → your website, otherwise the fallback.
Some Huawei and Honor phones do have Google Play — older Huawei models and recent Honor ones. When recognised, they are still sent to AppGallery — so if your app is not in AppGallery, set a fallback page that offers the Google Play badge, rather than leaving those phones at a dead end.
Set it up
- Find the AppGallery address:
https://appgallery.huawei.com/app/C101234567, where theC…number is your app ID in AppGallery Connect. - Create a link with that address next to your App Store and Google Play ones, and RuStore if you publish there.
- Set the fallback, then open the device redirect test on a phone to see where it would land.
- Share the link or its QR code — one code on print works for Huawei, other Android and iPhone alike.
What you see
Clicks by day, platform, country and source. Huawei visits show up as their own platform, so you can see how much of your audience AppGallery actually reaches before deciding how much to invest in it.
Questions
Will a Huawei phone ever be sent to Google Play?
No. Huawei and Honor devices go to AppGallery, then RuStore, then the fallback. Give the link a fallback page with a Google Play badge for the models that have it.
Do I need the Huawei SDK for this?
No. The store is chosen on the server before AppGallery opens; nothing changes in your app.
